Profile
Brooks Heintzelman specializes in conceptual identity design and creating beautiful visual systems for content, from eye-catching, multi-platform campaigns that engage and surprise audiences to flexible brand guidelines that scale with clients as they grow. He works with both early-stage startups building brands from scratch, as well as established companies seeking clarity, distinction, and bold direction. His design process is rooted in typography and its relationship to both form and language. Brooks has drawn custom typefaces, logotypes, and lettering for clients including Pharrell Williams, UPS, Netflix, Eli Lilly, Doordash, and The Martin Agency. In addition to his work with commercial clients, Brooks collaborates with individuals and institutions across the fields of art, publishing, and education, and has taught classes, lectured, and led workshops at VCU School of the Arts, the University of Virginia School of Architecture, Appalachian State University, and the University of North Carolina Wilmington. He holds an MFA in graphic design from Virginia Commonwealth University and a BA in English from Franklin & Marshall College. He lives in Richmond, Virginia.
