MD Roman is my attempt to build on the foundation of dependable, practical serif typefaces while moving the genre to a fresh, contemporary place. Hooked terminals and daring curves project passion and elegance. The result is hard-working yet refined, stable yet spirited. A special “MD Alternate" cut pulls the typeface’s discretionary, alternative glyphs to the forefront. Its diagonally-angled characters (A, M, V, W, Y) follow the slanted geometry of the Mighty Dream logomark, injecting a forward-thinking energy to the text. The added monogram “D” offers an additional fun twist.

Commissioned by Pharrell Williams and Edelman, MD Roman helped to shape the brand voice of their joint venture, Mighty Dream, a purpose-driven creative agency built to effect social change.
