eBay x Nike SB Dunk Low “Sandy Bodecker”

2022
In 2003, a special pair of Nike SB Dunk Lows, decked out in the eBay color scheme, were auctioned for charity. The winning bid—a staggering $30,000—came from none other than Nike VP Sandy Bodecker, one of the forefathers of the company’s skateboarding division. All remaining prototypes of the shoe were subsequently cut into pieces, in order to ensure the value of the original, the proceeds of which went to fund Portland-area skateparks. It was a true one-of-one.
Twenty years later, to honor Sandy’s legacy, eBay and Nike partnered with Edelman to release a commemorative shoe: the eBay x Nike SB Dunk Low “Sandy Bodecker.” To celebrate the release, we designed ten collector’s edition boxes for auction. Each kit contained a cut-up tribute to the original charity dunk, a pair of the new 2022 model, a striped saw (a wink to the destroyed prototypes), and a numbered authenticity plaque. The best part? The box was truly skateable, complete with metal coping and a ledge that slides out to create multiple levels for grinding.
Check that—the best part was that eBay’s auction raised over $355,000 for the Bodecker Foundation.
