At its heart, baseball has always been a game of numbers. Major League Baseball now uses Google Cloud to support its entire technology footprint, including Statcast—the preeminent statistics service used by players, coaches, umpires, broadcasters and fans alike. From home run trot time and catch probability to outfielder jump and pitch spin rates, Statcast shows how Google Cloud contextualizes MLB’s millions of data points into fan-friendly, digestible bits of information. The team at Arts & Letters helped Google bring it to life, centering the UI within highlight footage to show the sheer fun that numbers bring to the baseball experience.
